What We Learned from Speaking with Kjøller

As part of Neon AI’s early-stage fundraising journey, we recently approached Kjøller, a privately held investment company focused on startups and growth businesses.

While our application did not ultimately result in investment, the experience was genuinely valuable. The Kjøller team reviewed our proposition thoughtfully, provided clear feedback, and helped us understand — through a real investment process rather than theory alone — what investors look for when assessing an early-stage technology company.

For Neon, one of the most useful lessons was the importance of demonstrating not only a compelling technology proposition and market opportunity, but also sufficient commercial traction, revenue and operating track record to match an investor’s particular mandate.

We came away from the process better informed about how professional investors evaluate risk, timing and investability, and with a clearer understanding of the milestones we need to achieve before approaching institutional investors again.

For other founders looking to understand the investment process from an investor’s perspective, Kjøller is worth exploring: Kjøller – Capital and Know-How for Ambitious Companies.

Not every investor conversation needs to end with a cheque to create value. Sometimes the most useful outcome is a much clearer understanding of what you need to prove next.
